Things to consider before renting a property
Article by Julie Petermann - Rentals Compliance Officer

Moving into your own home is an exciting time but it can also be stressful. Here are some tips for those who wish to start out on their rental journey:
  1. Set your budget and then stick to it! View all options within your budget, so you have several options for comparison. When viewing a property, it is recommended to take a friend or family member that has rented before, to offer advice and keep you within your budget.
  2. If you already have furniture, make sure it will all fit into the property before you decide to rent it or it can become very stressful on the actual moving day should you discover your couch does not even fit into the lounge!
  3. Give some thought into items you actually need and not items that you may want, but not necessarily need.
  4. Do your research and know the neighbourhood, so you are not surprised when you get there. Consider traffic at all times of the day and make sure the area is indeed the best option for you.
